JAKARTA – The Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia (TETO) has emphasized that it does not have any official account on the TikTok platform. This statement follows public reports about a suspicious account impersonating TETO and offering fake visa services.
In an official statement issued on Wednesday, April 14, 2026, TETO revealed that it had received complaints regarding a TikTok account named “TETO @ callcenterteto,” which claims to be the institution’s official channel.
Verification results show that the account has no affiliation whatsoever with TETO. All uploaded content is known to be a misuse of materials from TETO’s official activities in Jakarta and Surabaya, including diplomatic events, cultural exchanges, and consular service information.
TETO also stressed that the account illegally offers visa consultation services and charges fees to the public. Such practices have been identified as fraudulent.
“All information and services offered by the account are false and illegitimate,” TETO stated.
TETO reaffirmed that it has never provided visa processing services or paid consultations through unofficial social media accounts, including TikTok.
The public is urged not to access the account, not to provide personal data, and not to make any payments in order to avoid potential scams.
Furthermore, TETO reiterated that it does not have an official TikTok account. Its official communication channels are Facebook and X under the name “Taiwan in Indonesia.”

TETO stated that it has gathered evidence and reported the case to the Indonesian National Police as well as the relevant platform for further action.
The office also encourages the public to report similar illegal accounts to help prevent fraud and safeguard public information security. (red)
